Nevi's Happy Spray
Whether it's a gloomy day, or you woke up on the wrong side of the bed... you're feeling foggy and down.. or you're going through something really hard... there's hope and there's help.
This DIY was created for my Nev.
She's the "new girl" in her school. She started school when we moved to TN about 2 months into the school year, and while she made friends quickly with most of her classmates and always kills it with her grades, she encountered THAT kid. The one who for no real reason just can't seem to be decent to anyone else and seemed to be singling her out. We tried everything in the book and out of it to figure out how to handle this girl and Nev was really feeling defeated and unhappy at school.....So.... I had an idea..... She needed positivity and.....
She needed a Happy Spray.
First, a quick lesson in frequencies since this is why the idea wasn't just an idea, but a SCIENCE.....
In simple terms, all living things have a frequency, a measurable vibration. The lower your frequency, the more susceptible you are to disease and discontent. The higher your frequency, the healthier you are and the more emotionally balanced you will be. Essential oils are HIGH frequency compounds!

A little more hard core scienc-y info for those that prefer that.
Now that you understand why essential oils were my pick for handling bullying, and a little one who was feeling down, I'll tell you another secret. Using essential oils on yourself in this way ALSO effects those around you! So while I was boosting my own babe's mood by increasing her frequency and shielding her from negativity, I was also secretly, round about, oiling the bully and providing the same "treatment" for her since she'd be around Nev all day smelling her "Happy". Winning!
Happy Spray DIY
So we've played with quite a few blends for Happy Spray over the last few months and you should play around with them too. Each of us need different things and you can pick your oils by smell or by what they're known to do for emotional support, health support, etc.
When making your own Happy Spray you'll need:
Essential oils of your choice
4oz. amber spray bottle
Witch Hazel
Distilled Water
Directions:
Add 5-20 drops of your favorite oils (This is the fun of it. You get to decide your scent, purpose, ratios etc.)
Fill the rest of the bottle 1/2 way with Witch Hazel and the rest of the way with Distilled water.
Spray whenever you need a mood boost or are going to be around negative people or hard situations for some extra support. Be careful not to spray in your eyes of course and if using citrus oils take extra care to avoid direct sunlight as they can cause sensitivity.
Here are our top favorite oils for Happy Spray and why:
Joy- Nev loves floral, citrusy, happy scents and this oil does double duty. Smells "happy" and uplifts your mood.
Valor- Valor is a gem. It's known to promote feelings of courage and security (which is why we also use it in our "Goopah Spray" but that's another post) :)
White Angelica- This oil is a protective blend. It brings about feelings of peace, comfort, and a sense of strength.
GenYus- This oil is must have for school age kids, teens and even adults. The oils in this blend all are high in sesquiterpenes (look that up) and promote mental clarity, focus, and alertness.
Stress Away- Oh man.. the name says it all. This oil is known as "Don't touch that it's moms". I use this as perfume myself, but also in the diffuser, or on my kids topically when they're being heathens. It was a no brainer to put it in our Happy Spray!
Cedarwood- This is a favorite in our house, especially the price! This is a calming but uplifting oil. It's the highest oil of all, in sesquiterpenes at 98%! we use it for stress, sleep, work time, snoring, bad attitudes, you name it!
Frankincense- Do I really need to? It's Frankincense lol. Ok I will... the effect this incredible oil has on every system of the body with specific focus on the brain and nervous system... I mean wow! I don't really go a day without using this in some way so another no brainer for my Nev.
Grapefruit- Nevi's favorite oil. This oil has been studied extensively for its powerful main component... limonene. Grapefruit EO smells like heaven, immediately gives you the "feel goods" as we call them, and Dr. Axe has an awesome article with so much more info on this incredible oil. CHECK OUT THE ARTICLE HERE.
Citrus Fresh- This $7.50 (Member price) little bottle of happy is Nev's 2nd favorite and one I use in my Ningxia Red shot each morning. It's packed with multiple citrus oils, lots of that limonene I mentioned above and Spearmint EO. It smells fresh, brings on the feel goods and is a great addition as a "pick me up".
